Site: Rumah Tok Su
Lecturer: A.R. Zafarrullah
For this module, we were given a heritage building that we are meant to measure and document so that we have some history of the building to look at back. I was put in a group of 20 people and we were given a Malay house in Kedah called Rumah Tok Su. The projects is divided into 3 parts:
1. Sketches (individual)
2. Report(group)
3. Model and Drawings (group)
Below is a gallery of pictures of when we visited the house for measuring and documentation.

Reflection
This module has develop my knowledge and skills in various aspects such as softwares, drawings, and teamwork. I had lots of fun going to Kedah for the first time and was mesmerized by the beauty of Malay house. I had never seen a house that is 100 years old to still be strong, beautiful and in good condition. Measuring the house was not a problem because I worked together with a few people who was also motivated to do the work properly. It drained out my energy while we were in the house and the weather was humid and hot but we managed to take few breaks and continue back. We had a good leader who lead us properly from day one. He had experience in working life so he knew how to manage the groups well and tell us what to do next. I could not imagine if I had to be leader because I seriously cannot manage over 20 people. So I had lots of respect for him to be patient and strong for us.
After the trip ended, we had to start using the data that we had collected and start making the drawings and models. I was put in the Revit Team along with my colleagues who were in the same semester as me. While the Juniors (semester 2) were part of the report team as well as the model team. Being in the Revit team had lots of its benefit because I was exposed to many things that I haven't learned before. We made the house from foundation to roof. Literally everything from scratch. At first, we were really nervous to how to start and how to make this house. I even thought that it was impossible to do, but thanks to Shan and our leader James, we were able to create the walls, carvings, windows, roof and ect. I have learned a lot from them because they knew so much more than us so I was really grateful for them to be in my group. They were patient and really kind to us when we needed help. Another software that I had begin to learn more about is AutoCad. Never have I ever used this software but we had to use it for lineweight. Lineweight is crucial for the drawings and we didn't know how to do it on Revit. So Shan taught us how to use it on AutoCad and so we slowly adapt to it.
Teamwork is by far the most important thing for this group project. Working with 20 people is a very challenging to do because there will be people who will do less work or no work at all. Having a good leader is important because whatever that the leader instructs you to do will impact the outcome of the project. So I'm really grateful that our leader had experiences in the working world and it really shows because he knew how to give tasks and how to make sure that people come and do work. But of course there are people who just don't listen. t really annoys me that some people do not come to studio while there are others who stayed until 4 am in the morning to finish work. It is really unfair for the others who put their time and effort in while there are others who are sleeping or hanging out. It makes me think that in the working world later, it is going to be much tougher than this. So I really hope that I will be fully prepared. Even if I'm not fully prepared, I hope that I know what is going to come to me so I can brace myself.
Other than that, I want to thank Mr. Zafar for guiding us and helping us through this project. Thank you for advising us to work hard and put our best into this project because that really had motivated us to do better. Thank you for everything Mr. Zafar!
