This model is the first part of building construction. The aim of this module is to help students understand the principles and practice of construction technology in relation to the site, building components, foundation, floor, staircase, beam and column, wall and opening, roof and ceiling.
Project 1 - Experience Construction
The first project is a group project where I collaborated with 5 other members : Nur Farahiyah, Alice Wansa, Sumedha Singh, Zainab, and Mashruk. This project aims to expose us and introduce us to various construction elements by visiting an actual construction site. The construction site that we chose together as a group is : Opus Lake Vicinity, Cyberjaya. We had to visit the construction site and gain knowledge by actually experiencing it and ask questions to the project manage, and other people that are part of the site. So this project aims to enhance our understanding of principles of construction, sequence of construction activities, material applications and more. It also gave us an opportunity to study the relationship between the site and the construction method, because each project/site is different.
So we are required to produce an A3 booklet where we compiled all our findings. We as group divided the work evenly based on the different topics.

A3 REPORT
REFLECTION.
I learned that learning about construction methods and construction site requires not only 1 time visiting but numerous. I faced some difficulty and problems during the project because I was confuse to which project we were suppose to study on. And that kind of lead me to research everything back especially when there was a bit of miscommunication between me and my members. So I learned that communication between group members is important. I also learned that opinions from each member of the group matter so that we can avoid any problems and misunderstanding in the future. Other than that I was happy with the outcome of the report. Everyone turned in their work on time so that I was able to compile everything into one A3 report. I was able to manage my time well so that I could finish the report one day before the deadline and print it at a printing shop. I realise that whenever I take charge in compiling the final works, I tend to be more responsible and aware that I have to manage my time and how my other members would feel about the final work. So at any time that I need help, I would ask my team mates for opinions on the layout, cover page and ect. They were such a great help that help me motivated to finish the compilation. I also learned that sketching and diagrams are important to convey your understanding. And so I include a lot of my own sketches in the report to help show the readers on the elements of the structure. I also learned that Interim is very CRUCIAL in showing your progress. Without any progress, the lecturers will be very and your final outcome won’t be so great, unless you put 200% effort in it!
Project 2 - Construction Detail and Specification
This individual project involved understanding the construction detail and specification of a simple building (relate to our geograhical location) and produce an A2 board of it. And so we have to pick a building that is already complete and pick 2 details that we want to specify on. The building that I had pick is from a project called Brywood, Klang. This building is just a simple two storey house that are build for Malaysia climate. And so from this building, I had to redraw the plan to a construction plan where everything is drawn for engineers, workers to look at when they start to construct the building. After that, I chose to study on staircase and roof specifically.
FINAL A2 BOARD
REFLECTION.
This project enhance my skills in drawings and sketching. In order to show my understanding of the construction details and specification, I have to show it in diagrams, drawings and sketching. Other than that, I had to refer to a lot of books, online research and images. I have to find out actually dimensions and materials and reasons for it. I also had to consider the methods of construction and material application that relates to Malaysia climate. This really help enhance my knowledge in the building industry. Other than that, the tutorial really help me move in the right direction. My tutor, Ms. Sateerah had helped me a lot in correcting my mistakes and suggesting me ways on showing the details and specification. Without her help, I would be stuck and not knowing how to show my understanding. So thank you Ms. Sateerah for everything! Other than that, I had fun drawing and researching the construction details. I was able to get information easily and had some knowledge from Project 1. I actually refer to a lot of information from Project 1 Report and that made me realise how important it is to really take every project seriously, because you never know when you need to go back to it. Because it might help for future projects ;)
