Project 1A:
For the first part of the project, we were given our site ( Muar, Johor) and required to go for a site visit with our team. During the site visit, we have to collect data and analysis them so when we bring it back, we compiled it in a presentation format. For our group, we decided to use a video format to present our analysis and data.

REFLECTION
In this project, I was selected as the group leader and I learned a lot of things during this short amount of time. Our team also struggled a lot due to the lack of group members ( 6 members) so we had to really worked closely and make sure everyone is doing their part so that we are not left behind. But I was actually grateful that we had a small amount of members because it made us more closer and there was a lot of discussions and brainstormings together. For me specifically, I learned how to be more straightforward and honest with the group instead of keeping my thoughts to my own. Being the leader gave me this huge responsibility that if anything goes wrong, I would take the blame and everything will be my fault but I slowly got rid of that negative thought since my team members was always so understanding, helpful and supportive. There was of course lots of downfalls, setbacks , but it brought us much more closer as we face the challenges together. In the end, I was so proud of what we have created despite the lack of time that we had.
Project 1B
For the second part of the project, we were required to present our concept ideas through our drawings, sketches and etc, but without verbal explanation.
INTERIM
REFLECTION
I learned so much from this part of the project. I learned the importance of labelling, annotations and how sketches or drawings can really help with showing the idea. But since we are not there to explain, it is so important to label as much as we can and also annotate what we want to convey sot that the one who reads it understands. I found it quiet hard to do because I am used to verbally explaining my ideas rather than showing it on paper. But it was a good practice for me to do for the future because I hope to convey more of my ideas or anything through drawings and writing. From this step, we also understand more on the UBBL guidelines, basement parkings and placement of columns from basement to top. Although it was more of a conceptual step, it was always good to know ahead of what we are facing with and need to deal with so that we don't have to start all over again when we start designing the floor plan.
Project 1C
The project brief requires us to design a Cultural and Innovation Centre for Muar. With a requirement of 3-5 storeys, 2,000 sq. and a basement parking, and also following the guidelines of UBBL.
The Cultural and Innovation Centre aims to be a cultural hub for the city or an iconic image. The intention is to spread awareness of the rich culture that Muar has.

REFLECTION
For this last semester, I can proudly say that I have put a lot of effort in and time to the design. Although there are still SO MUCH room for improvements, I am proud to where I am right now. But it brings me a lot of motivation to become better and learn more. There was a lot of challenges a long the way and I actually can’t believe that I slowly overcame it and finished it off. It was a very long process but at the same time it went by so fast that I wish it could go a bit slower so that I can treasure the moments more before going off to the real world.
I will be honest and say that I am super scared to go to the next step but when I look at my lecturers and what they have shared with us, I feel a lot better and aim to be someone that they are proud to have us as their students. This also goes to my parents who have done so much for me.
This project also made me realised how I love the concept of urban architecture and culture. I have a fascination towards urban life, and urban architecture and reading about it makes me want to know more about it. I love to analyse the streets, the people and try to incorporate it in my architecture. I feel like this could be something that I want to focus on in the future.
So I want to thank Mr Prince for this last memorable semester. Thank you for your kind patience and your help throughout this semester and I wish that I could have your guidance for a bit longer so I can learn much more from you. Sorry for any trouble that I have caused and I will surely keep in mind of what you have taught us to wherever I might go in the future!
